Lady Slipper’s Mini Alpine Twins

Lady Slipper freshened with buck/doe twins on May 19th, just a few hours after her sister, Lilac. It was fun having them freshen on the same day. The kids are second generation Mini Alpines and will be registered with the Miniature Dairy Goat Association (MDGA). We are sure the doeling will excel as a home milker and potentially a show goat as well. Lady Slipper is easy to hand milk and and a joy to have around the barn.

Mini Alpines are excellent homestead milk goats who average about 3/4 gallon of sweet, rich milk per day while eating only about a third of what a full size goat eats. They truly combine the best of the Alpine and Nigerian Dwarf breeds and are coveted by homesteaders wanting fresh milk and cheese.

Lilac’s Mini Alpine Twins

Lilac freshened with an adorable set of twin bucklings on May 19th. The boys are super sweet and will make great pet wethers. Lilac herself is proving to be a very easy milker with nice sized teats and large orifices.

Amelia’s Triplets

Amelia had a quick and easy delivery on March 27th, giving us an adorable set of triplets. Amelia is a beautiful goat with outstanding production milking over1,100 pounds and top-of-the line conformation scoring VEEE 90 on Linear Appraisal with that all important “Excellent” in mammary.

The kids’ sire is a young buckling out of our newest Elite milker, Cabochon PR Diamond Dust 3*M ELITE. We only made it to one show last year due to COVID cancellations, but Diamond took first place in all three rings as a yearling milker with comments from the judges on her impressive udder.

We are expecting these kids to be strong performers in the ring as well as on the milk stand. We are planning to retain one of these doelings and will be offering the buckling as a herd sire.

Novel’s 2021 Mini Alpine Triplets

Novel delivered triplets on February 27th , one day short of the leap day delivery she had last year. I love the look of these kids and would love to see them go to a home that is interested in showing in the Miniature Dairy Goat Association virtual shows.

In addition to being show quality, these girls will be great family milkers. Mini Alpines average about 3/4 gallon of sweet, rich milk per day while eating only about a third of what a full size Alpine eats. They truly combine the best of the Alpine and Nigerian Dwarf breeds and are coveted by homesteaders wanting fresh milk and cheese.

Their dam, Carl B’s RP Novel *M (VEEE 90), scored an impressive Ex 90 on Linear Appraisal at only 3 years old with an Excellent in Mammary and Back. She has an exceptionally high rear udder and an excellent foreudder. Novel is an absolute sweetheart to have around the barn and is a joy to milk.

Their sire, Cabochon ZZ Sweet William *B , is out of a Superior Genetics VEEV90 doe and a VEE 90 buck. William already has a Superior Genetics Grand Champion daughter,  SGCH Cabochon Petit Sirah 2*M (VVEE 90)

These kids will be registered with the Miniature Dairy Goat Association as first generation Mini Alpines and will be eligible to participate in MDGA shows and milk testing. The buckling is available as a herd sire.

Marceline’s Boy

Marcy delivered a gorgeous single Mini Alpine buckling on February 24th and she is being a very attentive mother to him.

This boy is Kati’s favorite kid of the year so he is getting a lot of snuggles. He has his mother’s bright, cheerful personality and just loves to play! Young as he is, Marcy has already taught him how to get attention from a human. He will be a great medium-sized pet for anyone who wants a lively playmate or even great buck prospect for anyone who wants to start their own herd of mini alpines.

Chenin’s Quadruplets

Chenin easily delivered quadruplets in the afternoon on February 25th and she has been doing a great job caring for them. The kids are a fun mix of colors and with nice conformation and should be solid milkers that fill the pail.

Chenin milked peaked at 4 pounds as a first freshener and milked 734 pounds in a shortened lactation of 279 days. (Unfortunately, I had to dry off some of the girls early last year due to overtime requirements at work.)

The kids’ sire, Cabochon DJ Casanova *B, is a beautiful buck and his dam, Liberty Star Acres Annabelle 2*M EEEV 90, has multiple Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion wins after starting her show career later in life.

Maple’s Triplet Doelings

Maple delivered three beautiful blue eyed doelings on February 25th. I really like the pedigree on these kids and expect them to be nice milkers with correct udders and large, easy to milk teats. This girls will be be 5th generation milk star does if put on milk test.

Their sire, Cabochon ZZ Sweet William *B, has produced some exceptional daughters. His daughters have multiple show wins and production awards including a Superior Genetics Grand Champion daughter, SGCH Cabochon Petit Sirah 2*M

Their dam, Cabochon PB Mapleshade 4*M VVEV 88, comes from a line of proven milkers and has a beautiful, correct udder with soft, easily expressed teats. Maple’s 2018 doeling, Cabochon XY Sassafras 5*M , won Grand Champion Jr Doeling at her very first show.

Monserrat’s Twins

Monserrat delivered buck/doe twins on February 21st. Her kids are growing well and bouncing all over place making their mother crazy, as all good goat kids do.

Monserrat milked well as a first freshener last year easily earning her milk star and she has some of the largest, easiest to milk teats in the herd. As a junior, Monserrat earned 3 Reserve Grand Champions and a Grand Champion but has not had the opportunity to show yet as a senior because the 2020 Minnesota show season was cancelled due to COVID. Both her sire and dam have appraised Ex90.

The sire, Cabochon ZZ Sweet William *B, is sire to a Superior Genetic Grand Champion doe, SGCH Cabochon Petit Sirah 2*M. Both his sire and dam appraised Ex 90 as well.

Windsong’s Quads

Windsong had quadruplets for the second year in a row delivering 3 bucklings and a doeling on January 15th.

Windsong is an extremely heavy milker and she started off this lactation with a whopping 6.4 pounds on her first milk test at only two and half weeks fresh. Windsong is has a proven track record of extremely high performance production – she milked a chart topping 1,310 pounds in 305 days in her second lactation making the Elite doe list, then continued on to milk for 582 days straight producing 2,099 pounds which put her on the Elite list again in 2019 while milking through!

We are retaining the doeling and one buck will be available as a herd sire.

Libby’s 2021 Quads

Libby gave us quads for the third year in a row with three doelings and a buckling. That makes her running total 10 doelings and 2 bucklings – not bad for a young third freshener! These kids are bred to be top notch milkers with a pedigree and production data to back them up.

As a yearling first freshener, Libby milked over 1,000 lbs and earned her Superior Genetics award. As a second freshener, she peaked at 6 lbs per day and milked 1,063 in 264 days – I dried her off early so we could breed her to kid earlier in the year. She has large, easy to milk teats and long level lactations that make her a joy to have in the herd.

The sire Cabochon SIG Marco Polo *B AI is a promising young buck out of Cabochon Amelia 3*M VEEE 90. She is also an exceptional milker who produced over 1,100 lbs during her 3rd lactation and scored VEEE 90 on Linear Appraisal. Marco’s sire is Heaven’s Hollow Sig Sauer, the 2015 ADGA Spotlight Sale Nigerian Dwarf Buck. Sig Sauer’s dam is SGCH Wyojem Wendy Kiki *M EEE 91, who has many outstanding accomplishments including 2012 National Reserve Best Udder, 2013 National Champion Nigerian Dwarf, 2014 Top Ten Milk Production, and LA of EEEE 91 at 8 years old.
