Calliope delivered triplets on March 18th. Calliope is a standout milker who earned a Superior Genetics designation and ELITE status as a first freshener. She comes from a long line of proven milkers and is a fourth generation Superior Genetics doe a second generation ELITE milker. Calliope has large teats and a very soft udder texture which make her a joy to milk by hand.
Bibelot delivered a pair of look-alike twin doelings on March 17th. The girls are a pretty chocolate buckskin color that will probably darken with age to a beautiful deep chocolate like their dam. I’m expecting these girls to be great milkers with quality udders. As a bonus, one of the doelings is polled.
Cabochon MP Bibelot is very dairy and has a long, lean neck and a long bone pattern. She is a very eye catching young doe who won Grand Champion Jr Doe to earn her first championship leg at the Bluff Country Dairy goat show. Bibelot freshened this year as a yearling and has a nicely attached udder with long, easy to milk teats. Bibelot’s dam, SG Cabochon CN Whatchamacallit 2*M VEEV 90; is one of the best milkers in our herd at 1,247 lbs last year as a third freshener
Dolly delivered a beautiful set of twins on February 27th. She is 11 years old now and still healthy, energetic and with an udder as high and tight as ever. Dolly has the longevity we all would like to see in our goats and I am proud to have her in our herd.
Liberty Star Acres Annabelle 2*M (EEEV 90) “Dolly”, has exceled in the show ring with two Grand Champion wins, four Reserve Grand Champion wins and numerous first place wins. Her conformation is proven by Linear Appraisal having twice scored Ex 90. And her production is documented with Advanced Registry DHIR milk test milking over 900 pounds. Her daughter, SG Cabochon ZZ Sierra Nevada 3*M, earned her Superior Genetics designation, two Grand Champion legs and multiple Reserve Grand Champion wins.
Petit gave us two handsome and much anticipated bucklings on February 24th. These boys are line bred on SGCH Carl B’s OH Champagne *M (VEEE 91). If you’re looking for a buck line bred on an SGCH VEEE 91 doe to bring consistency and quality to your program, check these out.
SGCH Carl B’s OH Sweet Champagne *M (EX VEEE 91) is a permanent champion, has a Superior Gentics designation and milked more than 900 pounds last lactation. She earned her SG award on her very first lactation. She finished her permanent championship and scored 90 on LA at only 3 years old. She has a 2:1 PTI of 112 and a 1:2 PTI of 123! Champagne has proven her ability to produce exceptional progeny.
Champagne’s daughter, SGCH Cabochon Petit Sirah 2*M (VVEE90) (dam to the bucklings) is a second generation SGCH doe. She proved herself early in the show ring finishing her permanent championship as a three year old. She then maintained a extended lactation and appraised VVEE 90 while milking through- something that is quite rate in the Nigerian breed. Petit wrapped up her second lactation with 1,238 lbs after 496 days in milk.
Champagne’s son, Cabochon XY Prosecco, (Sire to the bucklings) has Superior Genetics awards on both sides of his pedigree. He has strong dairy character with great angularity and openness. We have three Prosecco daughters in our herd and all have beautiful, well attached udders with large, easy to milk teats.
Josephine easily devered triplets on Feb 19th. I’m very happy with the feet and legs and the body capacity of these kids. They have very nice rear leg angulation with strong pasterns. The doeling has exceptional spring of rib and I am expecing her to have a beautiful udder with large teats.
Cabochon PB Josephine 2*M VEEV 89 Is a lovely, feminine doe who is quite petite at under 21 inches tall. She has large teats that are easy to milk by hand.
Cabochon XY Prosecco, has Superior Genetics awards on both sides of his pedigree. He has strong dairy character with great angularity and openness. Prosecco’s dam, SGCH Carl B’s OH Sweet Champagne *M (EX VEEE 91). is a permanent champion, has a Superior Gentics designation and milked more than 900 pounds last lactation. We have three Prosecco daughters in our herd and all have beautiful udders with large, easy to milk teats.
Marcy delivered an adorable set of buck/doe Mini Alpine twins on February 19th. Both kids are the unique Chamoise/Buckskin pattern found in Nigerians.
Mini Alpines are excellent homestead milk goats who average about 3/4 gallon of sweet, rich milk per day while eating only about a third of what a full size goat eats. They truly combine the best of the Alpine and Nigerian Dwarf breeds and are coveted by homesteaders wanting fresh milk and cheese.
Marcy received an excellent rating for both mammary and body capacity in her 2018 Linear Appraisal. This lady is all about the udder — she has an enviable rear udder arch score of 45 and rear udder height score of 40 and a fore udder attachment score of 36. (Those of you who breed for the elusive 40-40-40 udder will know how amazing this is!)
The sire, Cabochon XY Prosecco, has Superior Genetics awards on both sides of his pedigree.
So we’re expecting this darling doe to be an exceptional milker and would be thrilled to see her go to a home that is interested in participating in MDGA virtual shows. She will be registered with the Miniature Dairy Goat Association and a first generation Mini Alpine. Her brother will be available as a companion pet.
One of my favorite things about Chenin is how easily she kids. She delivered triplets in about 15 minutes this year which is a blessing when you’re in the middle of a hectic kidding season!
Chenin is a nice all-around doe. She milked 984 lbs last year and scored VVEV 88 on linear appraisal. Chenin’s strongest points are her incredible depth of body, nice straight legs and her large, correctly placed teats.
Amber delived a striking pair of buck/ doe twins on February 25th. She had a quick, easy birth and imediately took to the duties of motherhood.
Amber’s daughter is a stunning black and white beauty and should grow up to be an elegant doe with the potential to be an excellent show goat. Since Amber is a first freshener this year, her buckling will be wethered. With his colorful markings and energetic personality he’ll make a great pet.
This breeding brings together exceptional genetics for conformation and production from both their sire and dam. Champagne is a permanent champion and a Superior Genetics designated doe with an LA score of VEEE 91. Champagne have proven her ability to produce exceptional daughters with the most outstanding being SGCH Cabochon Petit Sirah 2*M VVEE 90. I am expecting this little doeling to follow in the family footsteps.
Her sire, Cabochon SIG Marco Polo, excels in general appearance and dairy character and is sired by the 2015 ADGA Spotlight Sale Nigerian Dwarf Buck, Heaven’s Hollow Sig Sauer. We love his front end assembly and his angularity.
Marco’s dam, Cabochon Amelia VEEE 91, is a beautiful doe with excellent conformation and exceptional production milking more than 1,100 pounds in her third lactation.
Marco’s sire’s dam, SGCH Wyojem Wendy Kiki (EEEE 91), is a Superior Genetics Grand Champion who has many outstanding accomplishments including: -2012 National Reserve Best Udder -2013 National Champion Nigerian Dwarf -2014 Top Ten Milk Production -LA of EEEE 91 at 8 years old
I am retaining this magnificent doeling for our breeding program.
Maple easily delivered three bucklings on February 7th. After freshening three Prosecco daughters and seeing their gorgeous udders and large teats, I knew he would be a perfect match for Maple to produce correct udders and large, easy to milk teats. While we didn’t get any doelings this year, two of her bucklings are available as a herd sire.
Cabochon PB Mapleshade 4*M VVEE 90, comes from a line of proven milkers and has a beautiful, correct udder with soft, easily expressed teats. We’ve retained two doelings from Maple and both have won Grand Champion at the very first show they attended.
